Ben’s first day at work involved meeting Tom Cruise, on his second he was directed in a landspeeder by George Lucas. On the third day Stanley Kubrick told him to, “Take a step to the left, please Ben”. Since the heady days of extra work in the late 90s, Ben has stepped behind the camera, initially working as an Assistant Cameraman before plunging headlong into the exciting world of Digital Visual Effects. Over the last 15 years, working predominantly at Absolute Post, Ben Robards has supervised the VFX on award-winning adverts for clients including Carlsberg, Kenco, Samsung and Lux as well as music videos for Madonna, Beyoncé, Robbie Williams, Kylie, Goldfrapp, Sigur Rós and many more. A career highlight was supervising the team that built a huge CG stadium around Guy Pearce for a film supporting the Ridley Scott feature ‘Prometheus’.Most recently he built a CG fairground for EasyJet’s 20th anniversary and transformed a herd of wild horses into unicorns for First Utility. Blood Orange is his first feature as Executive Producer.
